SoulOfDoinel:
It's more or less impossible to make it that small and still have it readable, however you can scale it to whichever size you want using the SVGZ from version 7.6. Open it up in Inkscape and play around.

vasile:
Thanks! Will add.

Oracle Unbreakable Linux

What about this distro ?
http://www.oracle.com/technologies/linux/index.html
It's a Redhat (RHEL4), lots of people consider a major distro - people who pay for support. This distro was released late last year.

It may be possible to mark each version date release. I know it's of work but will be nice at least for important disto.

Nice work !

Thanks you.
Great work.
Only one suggestion, A4 paper format, for optimizing a print.

Popolon: I got in touch with the creator of that SVG a couple of days ago and we've started working on a new version. Stay tuned!

the page is largely smaller than svg objs, on this file:

http://www.kde-files.org/content/show.php/Linux+distro+timeline+%28SVG%29?content=59416

A little trick to correct this on inkscape :
* Unlock the layer
* Select all
* file=>document properties
* Fit page to selection
* save the file.

Thanks for this interesting document :).

Andreas: Thanks! Adding Backtrack.

Schalken: I'll fix Fedora. I agree the old logos were nice. However they took a *lot* of space, and the amount of distros in the timeline has greatly increased compared to back then.
The transition to a proper vectorized version (in the works) might help squeezing in logos, and also might help concerning your proposal on more rounded connections. I appreciate the idea/feedback. Keep it coming. :)

Note for the next version that Fedora Core is now just Fedora.

And I would also like to see the symbols of the respective distributions on the timeline.

Also this one has too many right angles and it makes it a little tricky to see which distros flow into another. Might I suggest something like this: http://schalken.wubbles.net/distrotimelinesmooth.png

Please add Backtrack, a great Linux distro based on Slax.
From his web site:
BackTrack is the most Top rated linux live distribution focused on penetration testing. With no installation whatsoever, the analysis platform is started directly from the CD-Rom and is fully accessible within minutes.
It's evolved from the merge of the two wide spread distributions Whax and Auditor Security Collection. By joining forces and replacing these distribution the BackTrack could gain a massive popularity and was voted in 2006 as #1 at the surveil of insecure.org. Security professionals as well as new-comers are using it as their favorite toolset all over the globe.

Thanks for the great job.
